Look what we are doing to assist our communities in the Northern New River Valley....
NNRV Girl Scout Christmas Tree is on Display at the Andrew Johnson House in Pearisburg, VA |
The tree was decorated by Brownies from Girl Scout Troop 767 in Pearisburg and Juniors and Cadettes from Girl Scout Troop 513 in Narrows. The tree will be on display the month of December. Everyone is welcome to visit the Andrew Johnson House Wednesday – Friday from 12:00 – 5:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00.

- The NNRV Service Unit serving Girl Scouts in Giles County and the Town of Blacksburg collected over 500 cans of food for the Montgomery County Christmas Store
- Troop 3009 is currently making blankets for Project Linus
- Troop 1032 decorated and delivered cards for veterans at VFW Post 6000 in Narrows
- Troop 206 volunteered at the Relay Center for Operation Christmas Child – the troop made 17 boxes for the children with donated supplies
- Troop 513 made Christmas Decorations for the residents of Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek
- Troop 131 designing and creating board books for preschoolers in classes offered by the Coalition for Refugee Resettlement /Pilot Street Project in Roanoke. Also working on a pen pal exchange project to foster literacy among a group of school children in Belize.
- Troop 737 made placements for the St. Michael Community Thanksgiving Dinner. They also help with Micah’s Backpack which is a weekend feeding program and have been assisting with this for the past year.
- Troop 1035 currently collecting snacks and small toys for their food pantry kid goody bags
- Troop 397 made Thanksgiving and Christmas cards that were sent to soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan

Troop 3122 Juniors completed their bronze award this summer by collecting school supplies at Christiansburg Staples and Wal-Mart for the Montgomery County Homeless Liaison to distribute to children in the Montgomery County school district. This project was originally started in Summer 2009 by two of our other Cadettes. |
